The Float Pool Staffing & Resource Management Unit is a flexible staffing pool that currently covers all inpatient areas across designated affiliates. The scope of the Float Pool has expanded to include the staffing of RN's, CNA's, Patient Assistants, Patient Care Techs, Nursing Student Externs, Clin Techs and similar positions. We continue to build a collaborative, engaged team of nurses to support the Johns Hopkins Health System. Staff will float between both our East Baltimore (JHH) & Johns Hopkins Bayview Campuses.

The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide organization-wide support for the management of supplemental staffing across designated affiliates. In collaboration with the nurse manager, oversees unit and departmental structures and processes that support the management of supplemental resources to fulfill staffing deficits and adhere to core staffing patterns across multiple affiliates to promote efficient and effective use of personnel resources. Participates in the development and/or selection of software solutions to centralize processes related to scheduling, staffing, and attendance management.

This position is primarily based at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center but expected to float to Johns Hopkins Hospital as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BSN from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required.
  • CPR.
  • ACLS and/or PALS within 6 months of hire date.
  • Requires 5 years of experience as registered nurse, including 3 years of nursing supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of float pool concepts to meet fluctuating staffing needs across specialty areas, clinical settings, and patient populations.

Helpful to have:

  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling and time-keeping systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems-level change management.
  • Ability to lead others, communicate effectively, problem solve, motivate others, promote cost-effective use of resources, and apply principles of evidence-based practice.
