Soccer Operations & Coaching InternBoston Bolts Overview
The Boston Bolts possess more than 38 years of experience in bringing the world's game to communities across Massachusetts. In addition to overseeing youth teams across a full developmental pathway, the Boston Bolts participate in the USL, the largest and fastest-growing professional soccer organization in North America, with a team in the USL League Two.
The Boston Bolts are a growing organization that looks for team members to grow with it. The internship is hands-on, allowing successful candidates the opportunity to learn in a professional environment and experience a dynamic organization first-hand. The Bolts are searching for a hardworking, self-starter who is motivated to make contributions to the organization's continuous growth and seeks a career in sports management.
Position DescriptionThe Soccer Operations & Coaching Intern will help design and implement programs to improve team performance and elevate the Bolts experience for players. In conjunction with MLS Next academy staff, this individual will assist in game day and training operations to help prepare players to perform at their peak.
Position TimelineThis position will run from September 4 to December 11th.
Primary Responsibilities
- Help implement Boston Bolts coaching philosophy
- Assist coaches in building out the Bolts session plan database
- Assist in planning and organizing youth training sessions
- Attend weekly coaches meetings and field/classroom sessions
- Support in daily operation of the Boston Bolts, as well as field setup and breakdown for matches
- Provide general support to the Soccer Operation staff in its matchday operations
- Help prepare travel arrangements, including hotel, transportation, rental cars and development of itinerary
- Coordinate team operations for away events, including the organization of team meals, meetings and schedules
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Quick learner who can function in the fast-paced environment mandated by the sports industry
- Ability to successfully manage several projects at once and prioritize assignments
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Prior soccer experience strongly preferred
- Able and willing to travel up to 10%
- Able and willing to work at Boston Bolts Headquarters in Newton, MA
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Application & CompensationThe candidate must be enrolled in college or university at the time of the internship. Because internships at the Bolts are educational experiences, they are unpaid. However, the Bolts will provide a stipend to assist with your expenses while participating in the internship program. You must secure your own housing and transportation and be present in-office throughout the week.
