The Williams College Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, with teaching duties starting September 2024.

A more senior appointment may be possible in exceptional circumstances.

We seek a theoretical or computational physicist eager to teach throughout the undergraduate physics curriculum and to involve undergraduates in research.

Startup funds will be available.


Our department has nine full-time members and graduates approximately twenty majors annually, the majority of whom pursue advanced study or careers in physics or a related field.

Current research areas include experimental atomic physics, particle physics, and hard and soft condensed matter; theoretical biophysics, particle physics, and quantum information; and observational astronomy.

We are interested in candidates who will contribute to the intellectual vibrancy of our academic community through their teaching, research, and service, and who are committed to working effectively with a diverse student population.

Qualifications

A PhD (or ABD) in Physics or a closely related field is required. Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
