Summary

This position is within US Department of Agriculture, Office of the Chief Economist, Immediate Office, WAOB. The incumbent serves as the Department's principal commodity analyst, and Chairperson for the Interagency Commodity Estimates Committee (ICEC). ICEC membership includes representatives from the Economic Research Service, Foreign Agricultural Service, Farm Production and Conservation, and Agricultural Marketing Service fir official Deportmental commodity supply and utilization estimates.



Duties
  • Preparing agricultural estimates and forecasts for the current and upcoming year for release to the public, for internal Departmental program needs, and 5-year projections for budgetary purposes.
  • Representing the Department of Agriculture at Congressional Hearings, intergovernmental meetings, international conferences, agricultural meetings, and other major symposiums.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Undertake special projects relating to commodity supply, utilization estimates and forecasts, affecting performance and behavior of domestic and international agricultural sectors.
  • Responsible for maintaining expertise in a broad range of knowledge, experience, and insight that enables development of broad-based commodity estimates and forecast.
  • Developing improved analytical procedures, techniques, and information used to prepare commodity estimates.
  • Reviews and clears commodity estimates, statements, and reports.
