Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware (formerly Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children), is hiring a Per Diem Occupational Therapist to work in Therapy Services in Wilmington, Delaware.

Work Schedule: Per Diem - As needed. Weekend requirement of one weekend per month required.

This position will include employment in the following program area(s): Acute Care, Rehab, Outpatient

This is a great opportunity to join a busy and growing outpatient Therapy team. We provide evaluation and treatment for Occupational Therapy across the continuum of care including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program (CORP), outpatient for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, ranging in age from birth to 18. We are also an early intervention partner with Birth to Three Program in Delaware, providing clinic-based services.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
  • Able to provide therapy services in accordance with discipline specific scope of practice to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
  • Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy # , Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
  • Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member as appropriate.
  • Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
  • Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
  • Completes all mandatory training which may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR and program specific respiratory training.
  • Participates in weekend/holiday coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980.GL.24.
  • Team Work: Participates in conflict identification and resolution. Works cooperatively on multidisciplinary, single discipline, program specific and specialty teams. Assists in maintenance of department space and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE accredited university required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months experience required.
  • Clinical license in State of Delaware required as an Occupational Therapist. Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association is required within 6 months of the date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment. This can be completed onsite at Nemours during the 90-day orientation process.
  • Membership in professional specialty organizations preferred (AOTA, State/Region OT Association).
  • Pediatric or hospital based experience preferred.
