Position Overview

Based in a district office, the Transportation & Logistics Specialist I (Trucking) executes the strategies and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) established by the Logistics team and supports Procurement Shared Services in the implementation of Kiewit Procurement transportation and logistics procedures. Provide local support for procurement, import, export, transportation and fulfillment in support of internal customers. This involves close collaboration with 3PL (Third Party Logistics and Trucking companies) Transportation Coordinators. This position provides key information and support to Procurement and Project Management regarding supply, deliveries and order status from suppliers to internal customers.
This position works within the established policies and procedures of the global guidelines.

This position is based out of The Woodlands, TX.

Responsibilities

• Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed and released to carrier, forwarders, customers and agents in a timely manner. Ensure proper transit and customs clearance documentation exists for shipments.

• Prepare all necessary data entry and confirmation of key milestones (departure, arrival, customs clearance, PODs, etc.) as specified by Standard Operating Procedures.

• Communicates standard logistics metrics. Resolves quality, service & cost issues.

• Manages international shipping / receiving process, trucking companies and Brokers to ensure proper documentation is completed to meet all compliance regulations.

• Communicates & reinforces Logistics plans. Maintains clear communication & close co-operation with the Project, Procurement, & major Suppliers. Works with Quality, Planning, Construction, Carriers and Customers to proactively avoid & resolve quality & service issues relating to logistics.

• Coordinates operational redesign projects to improve performance & meet customer needs. Generates & implements innovations for logistical competitive advantage, Support the Logistics Team.

• Select shipment routes, based on nature of goods shipped, transit times, or security needs.

• Arrange for special transport of sensitive cargoes, such as engineered equipment.

• Complete shipment documentation such as bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts

• Consolidate loads with common destination to reduce costs.

• Negotiate spot rates with 3PL's.

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Ability to travel and relocate as needed

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or related

• At least 1-3 years' experience in an engineering and/or construction related role required

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel)

• General knowledge of database utilization

• SAP Experience a plus

• Thorough understanding of all areas of procurement is desirable, including procurement execution, estimating, expediting, offsite supplier quality and site purchasing

• Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

• Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time

• Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity

• Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
