Requisition Summary

This position involves overseeing shop service personnel to maintain high levels of quality, morale, safety, and efficiency within the maintenance team. Responsibilities include supervising technicians to ensure optimal performance in maintenance and repair tasks for customer vehicles and shop equipment. The role also entails invoicing, reviewing repair orders, performing technician duties as needed, and acting as Service Manager in their absence.


Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Manage and train direct reports to align with shop objectives and business goals.
  • Establish group and individual accountability, assign work, track goal attainment, and provide necessary leadership and development.
  • Coordinate breakdowns, approve work, and communicate with customers.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance, handle outside vendor statements, and process invoices.
  • Address service issues, review work quality, and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Maximize warranty recovery, enforce safety procedures, and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Prepare vehicles for service, ensure adherence to environmental guidelines and safety standards.
  • Handle driver and customer interactions, and fulfill Service Manager's duties when required.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Preferably five or more years of diesel mechanic shop experience.
  • Valid CDL with a good driving record is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel mechanics and strong supervision skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, organized, and adept at problem-solving.

Education
  • High school diploma; some college education is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

The role demands working in a Truck Service Shop setting, adapting to varying environmental conditions. Candidates must have the physical capabilities to perform all job responsibilities effectively.

  • Tasks may involve walking, standing, sitting, using hands, climbing, balancing, and more.
  • Specific vision abilities and the ability to adjust focus are needed.
  • Work environment may have moderate noise levels, and flexibility in working shifts and weekends is required.
