Must be a Board Certified or Board Eligible Radiation Oncologist.
Provides direct clinical and administrative oversight for mid-level practitioners, physics, dosimetry, radiation and therapists.
Responsible for providing services in an efficient, high-quality, cost effective manner within budget allocation.
Participates in recruitment, hiring, evaluation and disciplinary actions for staff.
Supports operations issues/problems resolution in a logical, step-wise fashion.

Participates in a forum in which staff identifies, communicates, and resolves issues related to Radiation Oncology Service, Medical Center ancillary and support operations, and VISN-wide mandates.

Supports, contributes to and implement policies, procedures, performance goals, strategic plans and initiatives,

Responsible for implementing the goal of improving care for patients within the Medical Center and VISN 5.Knowledge, ability and willingness to use and promote the dissemination among clinical staff of current automated technology for Health Information Management Sections (HIMS), patient data tracking, patient orders, etc.

Contributes to the development, maintenance and enhancement of relations with internal and external entities including but not limited to: medical and nursing schools, therapist training programs, local public and private health care entities, colleagues in other Patient Services and Integrated Services such as Information Technology, Laboratory, and Business Office, labor, and VISN.

Participates in Radiation Oncology Service strategic planning,
Participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings or committees.

Provides direct patient care as a consultant in outpatient clinics and/or inpatient wards and will participate in the Radiation Oncology Service on call schedule.

Participates in regular peer review activities.
Must be alert to patient's condition and disorders. Reactions on the part of the patient require immediate attention so harm does not come to the patient.
Maintains patient records and files. Follows HIPAA guidelines regarding patient information
Ensures timely completion of daily clinic notes with accurate documentation and coding of service rendered.
Practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, in compliance with department and VA radiation safety procedures to maintain occupational exposures "as low as reasonable achievable" (ALARA)
Provides patients with accurate and compassionate treatment.

Follows established safety practices and reports to Chief as promptly as possible to unsafe conditions, unsafe practices or any occupational illness or injury sustained.

Adheres to all safety and health standards, regulations, work practices and uses proper protective equipment as required.

Participates in quality assurance (QA) activities to include and provide data collection, data analysis, and trends and reports on changes based on data collection.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment):

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule:
Part-time. 24 hours per week. Tour of Duty 08:00am - 04:30pm. Days will vary.
