Accounts Receivable Accountant | 100% REMOTE | $30hr - $40hr

Responsibilities:

The role of Accountant contributes to the team by functioning independently and under tight deadlines, being highly detail oriented, completing their assigned functions within the accounts receivable and general ledger processes with a high level of autonomy, and working well with their team. This role understands project financials in a government contracting environment, prepares complete and accurate project invoices for all contract types (CPFF, FFP, and T&M), using Deltek Costpoint in accordance with contractual requirements, contributes to timely collection of payments, and manages monthly reconciliations.

  • Prepare and submit monthly and bimonthly invoices
  • Develop and maintain detailed supporting data for all invoiced costs.
  • Communicate billing concepts and issues to project managers, financial analysts, and upper management.
  • Participate in monthly reviews of billed and unbilled accounts receivable.
  • Work with project Finance leads to measure and improve project daily sales outstanding
  • Assist Contracts leads with project closeouts and final billing.
  • Respond to AR-related questions from internal staff regarding financial reports and provide appropriate guidance as necessary.
  • Assist the Controller with providing Accounts Receivable audit sample support and deliverables.
  • Prepare monthly various general ledger account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Present the weekly AR cash flow information to management.
  • Support various aspects of the accounting function, including the monthly close process, accounts payable, payroll, and special projects as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, with concentration in accounting or finance preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience performing accounts receivable and program billing for a government services contractor
  • Experience with Costpoint Accounts Receivable processing.
  • Experience with Cognos reporting preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting and finance principles, as well as familiarity with Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Experience using computer software, including strong proficiency with Excel and Word.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high accuracy in work through keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to act with integrity and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a strong commitment to producing quality work.
