Description

SAIC is looking for an Attitude Controls Systems and Propulsion Engineer that possesses technical expertise in spacecraft Attitude Control Systems (ACS) and propulsion subsystems. Member will be an integral participant in ACS and propulsion subsystem architecture, requirements development and verification, and unit designs. Key ACS areas of focus include control theory, reaction wheel/control moment gyro, star sensor/tracker, fiber optic/resonator rate sensing gyro, sun sensor, earth sensor, magnetic torque rod, GPS receiver, and control algorithm design, development, integration, and test. Key propulsion subsystem areas of focus include thrusters, control processes, electric and mono/bi-propellant propulsion design, development, integration, and test. Also experienced in the design & integration of satellite buses and knowledgeable of launch & flight operations of space vehicles.

  • Reviews and coordinates on changes to specifications, ICDs, and system level requirements documentation for ACS and propulsion subsystems
  • Tracks development issues and attends unit, subsystem, system level design reviews
  • Supports launch and spacecraft on-orbit test as required
  • Identifies and assesses emerging risks and develops & evaluates proposed burn-down plans
  • Reviews developer's readiness to proceed into spacecraft test at various levels of assembly
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team
  • Experience in DoD IC acquisition and program management processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications

· 10+ years of experience

· Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Astronautical, or Mechanical Engineering required

· Education and experience with spacecraft ACS hardware and software design, manufacture, simulation, and test

· Education and experience with spacecraft propulsion subsystem development, simulation and test

· Strong attention to detail

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Ability to work collaboratively with personnel from multiple functions and at all levels of the customer organization to deliver results; strong networking, interpersonal, customer service skills, team building and problem-solving skills with an ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment

· Excellent Organizational skills; ability to plan, track and maintain due dates for multiple taskers and products central to customer acquisition processes
