Job Description

Up To Date Laundry is one of the largest commercial laundries on the East Coast servicing hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, D.C., and Virginia. We provide a full service to our customers from pickup to delivery. Our dedicated staff of laundry associates, drivers and maintenance technicians, and administrative and management teams ensure the delivery of hygienically clean laundry year-round.

Position Summary:

The position involves physically loading and unloading carts of hospital linen on and off company vehicles so that the linen can be properly laundered.

Position responsibilities:

  • Physically loading and unloading carts of linen on and off company trucks
  • Physically moving carts of linen on and off a raised platform in the floor (also known as a scale).
  • Physically positioning certain carts of linen on the dock in a certain manner so they can be used (also known as staging).
  • Physically sweep and clean the inside of company trucks as well as the dock area.
  • Responsible for other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical demands and work environment:

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand at their workstation at least 8 hours per day or more if needed, walk throughout the plant, use their arms and hands to reach and grasp carts of linen to move them on and off of company vehicles, talk and communicate to co-workers and supervisors, and visually recognize certain items about the load/cargo on company vehicles. The employee must constantly push carts of linen weighing anywhere from 60 lbs. to 600 lbs. on and off company vehicles and throughout the plant daily.

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to extreme heat during the summer months and a cold climate during the winter months. The air quality is subject to lint from the linen all year round as well as fumes from company vehicles while working around them.
