Our average class size is twelve in the Lower School (K-5) and 15 in the Middle School Our classroom teachers are solo practitioners who value the importance of connection and social-emotional well-being in a student's growth. Overview of Position

We seek a dynamic and passionate Physical Education (PE) Teacher dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and physical fitness among our students. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop lifelong healthy habits, teamwork skills, and a love for physical activity. The PE Teacher will create an engaging and inclusive environment that supports all students' physical, social, and emotional growth. We are seeking reliable, adaptable candidates with a nurturing and supportive tone with students.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver high-quality PE instruction to K through 8th grade students, using various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum that aligns with the school's educational philosophy and standards, promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and overall well-being.
  • Facilitate students' social, emotional, and academic development using Responsive Classroom procedures to manage the class and any student behavior issues.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance and progress in physical education, providing feedback and guidance to support their development.
  • Lead and support after-school sports programs, clubs, and events, fostering a spirit of teamwork, skill building, and community.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all physical activities by maintaining equipment and facilities and adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, staff, and parents to support students' overall well-being and integrate physical education with other aspects of the school curriculum.
  • Stay current with best practices in physical education and health by participating in professional development opportunities and contributing to the school's continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the community beyond the classroom.
  • Communicate with constituents in a timely and professional manner. The successful candidate will have the following characteristics and skill set:
    • Two years of experience preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree is required and a teaching credential preferred
    • Deep understanding of and appreciation for project-based learning
    • A commitment to cultural competency and a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community
    • Familiarity with the Physical Education Framework in California
    • Responsive Classroom approach preferred
