Physician - Primary Care

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Duties
The Albany VA has an opening for a full-timePrimary Care Physician . The Physician works as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide Primary Care services to Veterans and their families. The physician is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies in assessing the physical and psychosocial status of patients and family members, and play an active role in the multi-disciplinary health care team. The Primary Care Physician is accountable to the Chief of Primary Care, or designee.
- Providing patient care.
- Acting as surrogate for absent providers when needed.
- Attending staff meeting and medical meetings.
- Collaborating with and supervising mid-level providers.
- Following Veterans Health Administration guidelines.
- Timely documentation of encounters.
- Working closely with Patient-Aligned Care Team (PACT) including nursing and administrative staff.
- Working within your scope of practice.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
