Responsibilities


This position will play a significant role in the education and supervision of Internal Medicine residents and assists the Program Director in the administration of the program.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the program leadership in developing, implementing, and assessing curriculum.
  • Provide clinical teaching and supervision of residents in an outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Participate in the Clinical Competency Committee
  • Participate in the annual program review as the Program Evaluation Committee member and program's improvement.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection of residents.
  • Advise and mentor residents (co-creating, implementing, and monitoring individualized learning plans).
  • Design and oversee remediation plans.
  • Support/oversee residents in the development/assessment of quality improvement/patient safety projects
  • Support/oversee residents in the conduct of their scholarly work, including the dissemination of such work through presentations, posters/abstracts, and peer reviewed
publications.

  • Actively participate in educational activities (didactics, lab, or simulation).
  • Develop, implement, and assess one or more of the major components of the curriculum, such as patient safety, quality, health disparities, or core didactics.
  • Design and implement the program's assessment strategies.
  • Support the program's efforts related to resident and faculty members well-being.
Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.

Preferred Credential(s):
Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education:


Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.

Additional Preferences

Required Certifications:

  • ABIM or ABOIM certified (or eligible)
  • MI license
  • Prior experience in teaching medical students and/or IM residents, preferred
