SUMMARY

The Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Systems Specialist is responsible for the daily operations of AMI system(s). This includes the maintenance and support of the software products used.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate all AMI System Software.
  • Analyze all AMI system data daily, including Daily reads, Hourly reads, demand reads, 15-minute reads, and other available data.
  • Maintain AMI system metrics and reporting.
  • Analyze meter testing date
  • Monitor outbound and inbound commands to AMI substation equipment.
  • Perform software and firmware upgrades as necessary to ensure that it remains current.
  • Monitor peripheral AMI communications and statuses.
  • Interact with and assist internal meter data users to provide timely, accurate, and complete delivery point information.
  • Identify and assist in the analysis and correction of meter data anomalies to ensure meter data accuracy and quality.
  • Generate service orders for problem meters\modules.
  • Provide support and training for Remote Disconnect functionality and assistance to users with limited access to AMI functionality.
  • Analyze alerts and respond accordingly.
  • Implement and monitor AMI job scheduler to ensure highest levels of reliability within the AMI system.
  • Maintain AMI two-way addressing to ensure the highest levels of performance within the AMI system.
  • Monitor and maintain circuit switching in accordance with System Operations through SQL scripts or alternate path mapping to ensure the highest level of AMR functionality.
  • Document and communicate AMR system functions.
  • Work with IT suggesting and implementing process improvements based on AMR system needs and requirements.
  • Act as technical lead and vendor liaison in the version upgrade, patching, hotfix, and performance maintenance and optimization of the AMR system while addressing the interests of LCEC.
  • Interact with and assist metering personnel including, but not limited to, engineers, technicians, analysts, and network engineers in order to commission, troubleshoot, test, and maintain the integrity of the AMR system for all necessary meters.
  • Assure compliance with North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) Cyber Security requirements and work closely with IT InfoSec to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee the Aclara AMI system operations, maintenance of meter data, and scheduling processes.
  • Stay up to date on the latest IT trends and technologies.
  • Ensure the operating efficiency and rhythm of key business cycles including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activities.
  • Identify problem areas affecting cross-functional and cross-divisional programs/projects, recommend solutions to problems, and align leadership to resolve problems.
  • Keep informed on the utility's policies, plans, programs, and rates.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training and other employee meetings as required.
  • Promote a safe culture in which safety is a value. This culture is based on joint and individual engagement, ownership and accountability regarding job safety and responsibility to perform work safely and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Practice proper traffic procedures and all traffic laws, rules and regulations while operating a Utility Vehicle and perform the position's essential functions safely and efficiently.
  • Care for and maintains all Utility assigned equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Experience with Aclara AMI systems.
    • Must possess skills operating a PC and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and a work management system or similar programs.
    • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in SQL query language.
    • Proficient with the creation of reports.
    • Experience with Aclara integration with NISC iVUE applications including Service, ABS, and OMS.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Excellent listening, decision-making, and judgment required.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.
    • Visual acuity and manual dexterity to enter and verify data on a computer/workstation.
    • Regular on time attendance is required.
