Who we're looking for

Toyota's [Integrated Vehicle Systems Automated Performance and Application Department (IVS-APAD)] is looking for a passionate and highly motivated [ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) Evaluation Simulation Engineer]

The primary responsibility of this role is to [evaluate current and future ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) using various simulation environments, both with and without hardware in the loop. Example activities include developing simulation environments in IVS, developing requirements-driven test cases in simulation, and completing and analyzing collected data from such simulations].

Reporting to the [Senior Engineering Manager of IVS-APAD2], the person in this role will support the [IVS-APAD] department's objective to [define performance requirements and evaluate ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) against those requirements.].

What you'll be doing

Design and execute test cases for next-generation ADAS features in a simulation environment for functional testing and performance tuning.Collaborate with design engineering teams to create and refine customer-driven requirements as the basis for system development.Design quantitative benchmarking methods for ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) on competitor vehicles using GPS, camera, or other sensors.Configure, modify, and troubleshoot test vehicles, sensors and data acquisition equipment.Design and develop vehicle instrumentation methods and architecture for advanced trailering applicationsProvide data-driven proposals for feature modifications or improvements to existing systems, centered around the usability and acceptance of ADAS functions.Identify, propose, and implement process improvements and intelligent, targeted automation to continuously increase efficiency for the department.
What you bring

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering, or equivalent, with 2+ years of experience in leading or assisting projects involving stakeholders from multiple engineering disciplines.Experience in developing simulation-based functional or performance test cases based on system-, user-, or software-level requirements.Experience in developing test benches to simulate vehicle environments for the purposes of rapid evaluation cyclesA history of developing localization algorithms for vehicles, drones, or other robotics applications using machine vision.An understanding of ADAS end-to-end Over-the-Air Update processes, including a functional understanding of back-end architecture and post-update performance checks.Ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.Valid US Driver's License with a clean driving record.
What you may bring

Experience in building an end-to-end evaluation data ingestion and analysis pipeline from user input to visualized output.Experience in using Python or similar language to synchronize various data sources (collected, simulated, and synthesized) to streamline data analysis.Working knowledge of radar, camera, and sonar systems in automotive applications.Experience installing, troubleshooting, and analyzing data from testing equipment such as RTK, Vbox, LabView, CANoe, or other similar systems.Toyota Middle Class and T1 driving certifications.
