The primary function of the Kitchen Aide is to perform a variety of kitchen tasks while delivering excellence in hospitality and customer services.
Education Some High School, (10th grade)
Required andHigh School Diploma or GED Preferred Experience1-2 years Experience Required Experience in retail setting with cash handling Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.Ability to follow basic written and oral instructions.Ability to count and perform basic arithmetic.Technical Service: Performs variety of kitchen functions for patient services, catering and cafeteria services. Organizes tools and work space for efficiency. Assists with preparing food for cafeteria for all assigned meals. Restocks all food items in the cafeteria, notifies cook/supervisory of needs in cafeteria and any product quality issues. Assists with preparing cafeteria for each assigned meal. Cleans up and disassembles cafeteria food and equipment. Removes food from cafeteria, in accordance with sanitation and food handling. Practices proper deliming procedures. Ensures proper operating temperatures are followed and maintains recording of temperatures. Assists in putting stock up in storerooms and walk-ins. Maintains storerooms and walk-ins in a neat and orderly fashion. Follows first- in, first-out method for rotating stock, adhering to all HACCP procedures. Keeps all equipment clean and maintained after use Follows all cash handling policies and procedures.Customer Service: Consistently displays professionalism in dealings with patients and families, staff, and physicians. Promptly answers customer, staff requests pleasantly and appropriately Approach, greet and offer assistance to patients, family members, physicians and others who may need help. Pitches in to cover shortages within department. Takes initiative to solve problems and recommends improvements of hospital procedures and intra or interdepartmental processes.Development: Participates with supervisors in identifying learning needs. When learning needs are identified, participates in training and development activities. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Meets all mandatory obligations.Organizational knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments.Participates in departmental projects Participates in interdepartmental activities when asked. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.Department/Unit Specific Functions and Duties Maybe asked to work in both Nutrition Services and Cafeteria
