In this role, you will:
- support manufacturing and process improvement initiatives by creating models, carrying out discrete-event and 3-D simulations, and performing new technology evaluations.
- optimize plant layouts by analyzing throughput capabilities, bottlenecks, buffer sizing, and material routing, while incorporating key production metrics (ex. downtime) from various process owners and exercising models to propose improvements
- account for statistical variation, uncertainty, and the impact of unplanned events on overall output
- carry out physics-based modeling of mechanical and electrical equipment while applying your understanding of tooling and automation as well as processes involved in parts assembly.
- contribute to increased end-to-end concurrency and rework reduction by providing early input to engineering on feasibility and ease of manufacturing of designs as well as to M&S team on new opportunities for automation.
- support your team as needed, and work collaboratively with technical specialists and subject matter experts (SMEs) as well as internal customers, engaging them independently whenever necessary.
- work with engineering staff on the design front and IEs at sites to support learning and drive adoption of new processes.
- exhibit solid time management skills in an uncertain, fast-changing environment.
- provide management with evidence-based recommendations to support decision making for investment in new processes and introduction of new technologies, with the overarching goals of maximizing concurrency and realizability of designs and reducing production costs.
