Irrigation Technician Lead

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm
Job Summary: The Irrigation Technician Lead assists with supervision and training of Irrigation Techs and other Grounds employees. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs underground sprinkler/irrigation systems. Drives from site-to-site.
Additional Department Summary: Will require overtime, sometimes on short notice. Will often require long days, on your feet, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. Over 8 hours days may be required based on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules including home football games. Requires working during all climates of weather, hot, cold, rain etc. depending on the season. Ensures the work site is left clean and orderly, ensuring all equipment and tools are clean, and securely put away. Will require other job-related duties to be performed as assigned. Must meet regular attendance requirements.
Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with university policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of underground electric and hydraulic irrigation system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Good communication skills. Ability to operate a variety of job-related tools, equipment and machinery used in ground keeping operations including chemical supplies. Familiar with Toro and Rain Bird Irrigation Products. Leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Successful completion of a recognized horticultural training program preferred.
