Summary of the position:

The Aftermarket Buyer will be responsible for supporting and collaboratively working with our third-party material planners, Aftermarket warehouse staff and Production Buyers/Commodity Managers to ensure timely requisition of material. This role will resolve Aftermarket material procurement issues and part shortages. The Aftermarket Buyer will strive to increase On Time Delivery and Fill Rate goals.

This role reports to the Inventory Optimization Manager for Aftermarket. The position is based out of Hitachi Global Air Power's Manufacturing Plant in Michigan City, Indiana; this could also be a hybrid / remote opportunity.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with MCI Production planners to receive branch sourced material.
  • Quickly resolve procurement changes to ensure the timely flow of material.
  • Support on-time delivery goal of 90% or greater.
  • Ensure Aftermarket supplier sourcing accuracy – Audit three suppliers per quarter.
  • Assist in the resolution of Aftermarket Receipt Grief and Non-Conforming Material issues.
  • Monitor Aftermarket Supplier Performance – identify and communicate improvement/recovery strategies.
  • Support monthly revenue targets.
  • Support EU01 Purchase Order Management & Order Execution through SAP.
  • Support EU01 Invoice/Pricing Resolution management.
  • Process supplier requested material/part deviations (SDR).
  • Assist suppliers with the utilization of the Supplier Web tool & encourage participation.
  • Support Monthly Aftermarket Metric Reporting.
  • Support third-party Planning Parameters and Material Replenishment Strategies.
  • Collaborate with Commodity Managers & Production Buyers to Select Sources and Obtain Quotes.
  • Collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to support NPD Aftermarket readiness.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • BS Degree (preferred) or equivalent work experience

Professional experience:

  • 5 years of purchasing, planning, or supply chain experience within industrial manufacturing. Aftermarket service parts and consumables experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of MRP system(s), (SAP), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business conditions, and work well across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experience with global business expansion and international product portfolios a plus.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Self- Motivated and Assertive.
