Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose is to protect the safety and security of persons and state property in the Baltimore\r
City Juvenile Justice Center.\r

POSITION DUTIES

Learn how to operate\r
Metal Detectors/Scanners and other surveillance equipment supplied by the\r
Department, and conduct searches as defined by the Department. Scan all\r
incoming persons with a metal detector; inspect all purses, bags, boxes, packages,\r
and parcels.\r
\r
\r
\r
Become familiar with\r
the Entrance and Exit logs, permitting only authorized persons to enter the\r
premises. Prevent unauthorized entry or access to BCJJC; Monitor deliveries at\r
the loading dock area.\r
\r
\r
\r
Learn how to provide\r
assistance to individuals looking for agencies or services. Answer general\r
information telephone at locations where a receptionist may not be available or\r
provided. Observe activities of individuals in the building to ensure that\r
building rules and policies are being observed by requesting compliance.\r
\r

Monitor youth,\r
parents, employees, court personnel, and pedestrian traffic inside the building\r
and around the perimeter of the building. Participate in scheduled fire drills.\r
Participate in scheduled disaster control drills.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r
