The Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC), a regional local government entity, is seeking a highly motivated and independently responsible Accounting Specialist.

This individual will perform technical accounting functions for the financial operations of the Regional Council or one of its subdivisions on a part-time basis.

An Accounting Specialist is responsible for working directly with the general ledger, such as account reconciliation, report preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable and assist with payroll functions.

Emphasis will be placed on ensuring compliance with accounting procedures, systems, and policies, as well as performing routine accounting tasks.

The Accounting Specialist completes assignments with a focus on accuracy and reliability. Job posting will remain open until filled. PM21

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Individual should have knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of general accounting, budgeting processes and internal controls. Position requires a highly motivated paraprofessional; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to apply rules, policies, and regulations; ability to establish and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization; ability to maintain confidentiality of information reviewed. Successful candidate will have the ability to resolve problem situations with little supervision and be resourceful in gathering/giving information in a diplomatic manner. The Accounting Specialist requires graduation from an accredited two-year institution with a major in accounting, with one year of experience in automated fiscal or accounting environment, or high school or equivalent with accounting courses and three years of experience in an automated fiscal or accounting environment. Position requires the working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, including Microsoft Office. Successful candidate must pass pre-employment drug screening, organization's background and credit screening process. Valid NC driver's license required.

SALARY RANGE: Anticipated starting salary is $18.01 per hour. Number of work hours will vary with organizational need, but will not exceed 20 hours in one work week
