We're looking for a Director of Engineering with a deep passion for building strong teams and a strong knowledge of revolving Credit to lead engineering for PayPal's Credit Card portfolio. PayPal provides revolving credit products such as physical cards and PayPal Credit to millions of customers in the US and UK. In this role, you will be responsible for the PayPal team building and supporting these products. The team is responsible for both web and native experiences.

Your day to day

  • Drive Technical Excellence:Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable systems.
  • Deliver Critical Initiatives:The PayPal Credit Card portfolio has ambitious financial targets for H2 2024 and 2025 and your team will be responsible for the high quality and timely delivery of the initiatives supporting these targets.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally:Collaborate closely with product and commercial leaders, key external banking partners, and other PayPal teams to ensure strategic alignment and to proactively address potential challenges.
  • Develop talent:Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the team by providing mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities for engineers.
  • Ensure performance and reliability:Champion best practices in system performance, availability, and disaster recovery, ensuring our platform consistently meets high standards of user experience.
  • Be on top of technology trends:Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
What do you need to bring-
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in software engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
  • In depth knowledge of the Credit lifecycle and credit card issuance
  • Experience with web and native front end technologies
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • A track record of attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent
