NOSY Asst. Manager or Shipyard Superintendent - ARTCO - Waggaman, LA

This is a full-time, exempt level position at the New Orleans Shipyard.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the safe work of hourly employees
  • Manage Payroll responsibilities for Hourly Colleagues at NOSY
  • Conduct damage surveys of barges and boats to develop repair specifications
  • Layout repairs as specified in the damage survey.
  • Prepare estimates for repair, modifications and other projects
  • Project management
  • Track and analyze data
  • Quality control
  • Schedule work hours, determine need for overtime, and assign tasks based on skill level
  • Hire and manage contract labor as needed
  • Monitor attendance of workforce and maintain records
  • Maintain steel and finished goods inventory levels and prepare purchase requisitions
  • Manage invoice collection and receiving duties for multiple locations
  • Open/Close work orders for NOSY as needed
  • Promote and participate in all safety and environmental programs
  • Conduct and/or attend all safety meetings
  • Perform incident investigations as needed
  • Oversee facility housekeeping and the work of shipyard maintenance personnel
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested
  • Manage all 3rd party repair functions and relationships
  • Solicit services of ARTCo shipyards to 3rd parties
  • Assist in managing the marketing strategy for ARTCo Gulf M&R
  • Manage and analyze 3rd party repair volumes, profitability and productivity using KPI's and other metrics
  • Oversee and grow our new Tank Barge Steaming function
    • Manage operations and employees
    • Manage the assets for customers and communicate timely
    • Track costs and revenues
    • Verify timely and correct billing

  • Good decision making ability and problem solving skills

  • Able to motivate others and demonstrate team building skills
  • Able to meet physical requirements of the position including prolonged periods of standing, working from heights, working over water, climbing stairs / ladders and entering confined spaces
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required, Bachelors degree or industry experience preferred
