Job Summary
The School of Art and Visual Studies at the University of Kentucky seeks applications for a non-tenure track 9-month Lecturer of Photography and Video with an initial one-year appointment with possibility of ongoing renewal. This position will begin August 2024, eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer after five years of continuous service. Review of applications will begin immediately, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Primary responsibilities are teaching (75% assignment, the equivalent of 3 courses per semester) and service (25%) that benefits the academic and professional life of the School of Art & Visual Studies (including such assignments as foundation reviews, assessment, seminars, supervision of the photography labs, etc.). The primary teaching responsibilities of this position are one of the foundation courses in the School's digital media and design program, "LensArt," a course introduces students to the DSLR camera in both moving and still formats, and the beginning video course. The lecturer will also have the opportunity to teach a variety of courses in photography and video.

Qualified applicants should have completed an MFA by August 2024. Preference may be given to applicants with teaching experience beyond the graduate level (two-years of post-graduate teaching experience is desirable). Applicants should have a demonstrable knowledge of both digital and film cameras, and with both still and motion photography/video and with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically PhotoShop, Bridge, Lightroom and Premiere. Broader abilities in such areas as darkroom photography, studio lighting, special processes, etc. a plus.
