Job Summary

The primary function of the Curriculum and Workforce Strategist is to actively seek out innovative curricular designs, programs, industry partnerships, and practices to advance TBR's mission of student success and workforce development. The Curriculum and Workforce Strategist will work with other strategists and with Academic Affairs personnel to address specific segments and regions of workforce development across the state. The Strategist will collaborate with a diverse clientele including system and campus leaders, faculty, staff, business & industry leaders, and state agencies to advance workforce development initiatives and to support the highly engaging pedagogy at TBR institutions of higher education. The Strategist will also be responsible for researching new programs and partnerships, leading strategic sessions to engage colleges in these opportunities, and introducing emerging practices for student success at scale in academic focus areas.

Job Duties

20% - In partnership with the technical and community college presidents and chief academic officers, research, explore, evaluate and share effective/innovative curricular models from other states, systems, and institutions. This should include theory to practice from current research in the field and successful programs that can be replicated, piloted, and eventually scaled system-wide. - (Essential)
20% - Collect data from multiple sources, package and present to faculty, staff, administrators to inform curricular design and adoption. Prepare professional development materials, reports, presentations and lead conversations about effective curricular models and possible applications in Tennessee's high-need occupational fields - (Essential)
10% - Communicate regularly with business and industry to learn and share skills needed for graduates in the field. Attend TCAT advisory board meetings as needed. Design and analyze training and development programs to support colleges - (Essential)
20% - Work collaboratively with other members of the Curriculum Strategy Team and the Academic Affairs leaders to integrate new projects into existing structures. Provide support to related curriculum activity such as the General Education Core, Open Educational Resources, TCAT new faculty orientation, Competency Based Education, Campus Curriculum Committees, and Tennessee Transfer Pathways - (Essential)
10% - Serve as a project manager in developing and piloting curricular projects; will include creating materials and leading professional development activity for faculty and staff. Engage with subject matter experts and stakeholders in the design of the faculty training and in support of institutionally led academic programs. - (Essential)
5% - Participate in evaluation and assessment activity related to new curriculum implementation. Prepare reports and presents findings to campus and system leaders. Collaborate and coordinate with campus institutional effectiveness/research offices in data sharing and transmission to stakeholders. - (Essential)
5% - Maintain an accurate inventory of community college and technical college programs, corresponding awards, classification of instructional programs, and learning outcomes in the Acalog curriculum system. Align and maintain records of community college and TCAT curricula with corresponding program competency guides. Leverage instructional technologies, website, TEAMS, Trello for team communication and project coordination. - (Essential)
5% - Build and sustain professional, productive relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators at TBR and other system institutions in the state. This should include campus centers for teaching and learning, institutional effectiveness offices, and institutional curriculum committees. Serve as a liaison and representative to academic departments at TBR institutions, work groups, and committees, and all other duties as assigned. - (Marginal)
Minimum Qualifications


• Bachelor's Degree

• 3 years' experience working on a college campus, system office, or workforce organization

• Curriculum and or/workforce training development experience

Preferred Qualifications


• Master's degree in higher education or related field

• 5 years' experience in postsecondary education at an accredited institution or in a workforce organization

• Experience leading professional development and/or workforce training

• Experience with course management systems

• Successful large-scale (state level) project management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

• learning management systems; secondary and higher education structures

• curricular design principles, assessment and evaluation methods; effective pedagogical practices

• accreditation standards – Council on Occupational Education and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges

• Tennessee higher education landscape including degree programs, certificates, diplomas, TTPs, and articulation & transfer relationships

Skill with:

• office software/technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and Adobe Professional; computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, data entry)

• interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; strong communication, teaching, and training skills.
