Summary

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position.

ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service.

In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), technical authority responsible for coordinating the work of other journey-level workers to perform/advise scheduled or unscheduled inspections, repairs, replacements, troubleshoot, documentation, build-up and tear down, flight-line maintenance and operational runs of aircraft propulsion systems installed or uninstalled, and to provide training to all assigned reservist personnel as required in the accomplishment of duties set forth herein. Determine when the nature and scope of repair involves other trades, e.g., aircraft mechanics, electricians, electronics mechanics, sheet metal/structural repair or integrated systems mechanics and coordinate the work of these individuals with the other trades.


1: Serves as technical authority to perform/coordinate/oversee troubleshooting and analysis of gas turbine engines to determine air worthiness of propulsion systems installed on aircraft on the flight-line and uninstalled in back shop and test cell capacities.

2: Coordinates, oversees, and performs the disassembly, repair, overhaul, inspection, and reassembly of aircraft propulsion systems, sub-assemblies, and components. Certify, utilize, and enforce the work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program and applicable commercial aircraft/propulsion manuals.


3: Skilled/certified in the operation and maintenance of diagnostic test equipment, on-board electronic equipment, a variety of special equipment, hand, measurement, and power tools.

Removes or installs entire propulsion systems from/on aircraft, test cell and maintenance stand working as a member or leader of a team.


4: Enforces and complies with safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.

Maintain, inspect, operate and certify test cell and hush house.


5: Perform Engine Health Management (EHM) program duties and properly document propulsion system maintenance in historical records and the Maintenance Information System (MIS).

Prepares effective training plans to maximize training for assigned personnel.
