West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) is a divisional campus of West Virginia University (WVU) focused on four-year undergraduate education. We are located in Beckley, West Virginia, near the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, world-class whitewater rafting, and other outdoor recreation activities. WVU Tech is currently inviting applications for the following employment opportunity:
The Department of Biology seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track position to begin Fall 2024.
Teaching responsibilities include General Biology classes. Other courses may be assigned based on the experience of the successful candidate and scheduling needs. Faculty with experience developing quality, online courses in environmental biology or other courses that appeal to non-majors should apply. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in aquatic ecology, water-quality monitoring, and/or mycology but all disciplines in biology will be considered. Opportunities to develop additional upper division course(s) not currently included in our curriculum may become available as student interest and resources allow. Other duties typically assigned to WVU Tech faculty include: assessment, service on committees, academic advising, outreach, and curriculum development. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program involving undergraduate students and write grants to support this program.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline is required by the time of appointment, ABD will be considered if the candidate will complete the degree by December 2024. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring are required, with strengths in online instruction and development.
