Boise VA Medical Center (BVAMC) has four primary care clinics and one Women's Wellness Clinic at the main facility, three Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOCs) and two Outreach Clinics.
The major duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Perform initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients.
Provide ongoing outpatient and inpatient care for assigned patients.
Screen outpatients to determine need for further care.
Prescribe medications within defined scope of practice.
Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms (EKG's).
Review need for and order health promotion and disease prevention activities.
Initiate, respond to, and expedite request for consultations, special tests and studies.
Provide education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized:
This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off:

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
The physician will provide direct patient care full time and work as a member of an expanded healthcare team (social worker, dietician, clinical pharmacist, behavioral health clinician, and a care manager) to oversee and coordinate medical care for a population of Veterans in a group practice setting utilizing the new Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model.
The PACT team is the physician, a scheduler, and LPN or MA, and an RN who work together to provide care for the panel of patients.
The practice emphasizes evidence-based medicine, primary and secondary preventative medicine, the use of computerized medical record system and continuous quality improvement based on individualized provider data.
