Job Responsibilities:

  • The Regional Paralegal provides administrative assistance and support to assigned Area Attorneys and assist monitoring/training legal staff under Area Attorney's supervision.
  • Assist Area Attorney with Cost center budgets for Area; coordinates with the OGC and counties about business management activities associated with fiscal management, procurement, and supply services; sets up and maintains account payable files, verifies invoices for payment, and determines appropriate account designation and object codes, verifies vendors are established, and if not acquires W-9 for the same; prepares 1402's; assists Area Attorney with preparation of financial data to prepare annual budget, reports, and justify fiscal allotment increases.
  • Check invoices from contract attorneys in Area for completeness and submit to the Office of General Counsel (OGC) for approval and payment. Maintain files related to contract attorneys. Monitor expenditures pursuant to those contra.20cts and monitor balances. Alert Area Attorney/OGC when additional funds need to be added. Receive all invoices from the Area counties and review for completeness prior to submitting to Finance and/or to the OGC.
  • Serves as primary support staff of Area Attorney. Maintains Area Attorney's calendar and tickler files; prepares personnel documents related to employees under the Area Attorney's direct supervision. Serves as Human Resource liaison for Area. Prepares all documents regarding personnel under direct supervision of the Area Attorney; Prepares all HR documents for the county paralegals and clerical legal staff and submits the same to the OGC for approval. Ensures that the Legal Offices in Area are performing efficiently at all times. Ensures EPMS documents are sent to HR in a timely manner by Area Attorney. Schedule Interviews for the Area Attorney.
  • Assists Area Attorney with managing the Legal Case Management System for Area. Participates in training employees in the proper way LCMS should be utilized.
  • Prepares documents, forms, memos and letters for Area Attorney.
  • Will be required to perform Red Cross shelter/emergency response duties as directed
