Columbia University's Department of Medicine invites applications for a research position in the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scientist (in Union) at The Columbia University Irving Medical Center in the Division of Molecular Medicine (Alan Tall, Director). The position includes both laboratory and translational research.

The Tall laboratory is conducting research on the mechanisms and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Our strategy is to use information from human genetic studies to prioritize novel genes and pathways involved in disease pathogenesis for detailed mechanistic studies, which may then suggest new therapeutic targets. As people age, they commonly acquire mutations in hematopoietic genes (called clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential or CHIP). CHIP increases the risk of developing hematological malignancies but also much more commonly atherosclerosis, thrombosis and heart failure. Our research seeks to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms linking CHIP to atherosclerosis and thrombosis. Studies employ mouse models of CHIP, cell fate mapping and single cell RNAseq approaches. Therapeutic approaches involve targeting inflammasomes and inflammatory cytokines.
