brief synopsis- The goal of this position will be to help finalize a new procedure for synthesizing a chemical blue dye, which is a key component used in a major Client product The worker will need to help optimize multiple steps in the synthesis of the blue dye and work on a large scale reactions (+100 grams) The worker will need to use analytical chemistry techniques (NMR, HPLC, and UV-vis) to monitor the best outcome from those optimization experiments and strategies The worker will spend a lot of time developing and finalizing the chromatography (purification) techniques used in each step of the synthesis We are optimizing each step to improve yields and relative ease of synthesis Results will need to be reported on a regular basis to a team of chemists in Oslo, Norway and receive feedback from the team on the best path forward The worker will be working with a team of chemists in Lake County and will be expected to adhere to lab safety and other Client policies Once a finalized method has been selected, multiple lots will be synthesized to ensure reproducibility of the new procedures Characterization methods (HPLC) will need to be developed for the chemical products The final procedure will be carefully documented and then transferred to the Oslo manufacturing site.
