Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The incumbent will serve as an Architect (Historic) for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) in Fort Riley, KS.



Duties
  • Participate in all phases of project design and construction applying appropriate historic preservation laws and regulations.
  • Participate in meetings with project managers, contractors, and proponents to assure adherence to appropriate historic preservation laws and regulations.
  • Review projects deliverables from government employees and contractors for meeting professional standards and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct consultation with the State Historic Preservation Officer, Tribal Representatives, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation representing Fort Riley's interests.
  • Brief various levels of command, state and federal personal and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as the designated Cultural Resources Manager.
  • Develop and implement the Fort Riley Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan.
  • Evaluate programs and projects to assure compliance with all environmental, energy use, safety, and security standards.
  • Keep abreast of state and Federal historic preservation laws and regulations and interpret their implications on construction projects and military training.
  • Negotiate, develop, and implement agreement documents associated with historic preservation compliance.
  • Apply the Secretary of Interiors standards and guidelines for the treatment of historic properties.
  • Provide training for government personnel and contractors involved in all aspects of the management of historic properties.
  • Provide timely response to all taskings from various levels of command and complete all annual reports as required.
