Job Description

Catherine Cook School is looking for an experienced, innovative Spanish teacher to join our teaching team. The Spanish program builds listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and lays a foundation in grammar and vocabulary appropriate for a variety of life situations. An emphasis is also placed on the study and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures. Applicants should be experienced in differentiating learning for a wide range of children's abilities and interests. We follow a responsive approach to social-emotional learning.

Develop academically challenging, appropriately differentiated Spanish curricula Utilize a TPR/TPRS or story-telling approach to world language instruction Experience teaching using the Comprehensible-Input approach Use a wide range of authentic assessment strategies Be responsive to and enjoy students from preschool through 4th grade Communicate thoughtfully, respectfully, and clearly with parents/guardians Create thoughtful, well-written progress reports Work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team Be willing to participate actively in discussions about cultural, racial, and other identities with students and colleagues QualificationsA. or M.A. in Spanish or Education with Spanish emphasis Experience teaching Spanish to elementary-aged learners Native Spanish speakers encouraged to apply Our staff and faculty place a high value on diversity and equity work including – but not limited to - cultural, racial, and gender differences with students and colleagues.
