The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for a full-time Principal Clerk in the Treasurer/Collector Department. This position will be responsible for clerical, secretarial, and financial record-keeping duties to support collections.

The position screens incoming mail, calls and visitors; answers questions or directs to appropriate staff members. Opens, downloads, balances and posts all payments received in the mail, at the counter and from online services. Notifies applicable departments of all online payments received.

Strong customer service skills will be required to staff a busy front counter to take payments, assist residents, and closing out at the end of the day. Issue demand bills and warrants, post abatements/exemptions and refunds on tax receivables. Travel to bank as needed.

Successful candidates will require a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of job-related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Some knowledge of municipal laws, statutory requirements, and cash processing experience desirable. Must be proficient with Microsoft products such as Excel and Word.

Pursuant to the town's consolidated personnel bylaws, this position is classified as Grade 400 and depending on qualifications, the starting salary is $23.90/hour and on July 1 a COLA increase will bring the salary to $24.26/hour ($44,153 annually). The successful candidate will be eligible for a six-month step increase to $24.82/hour and a step at one year to $25.38/hr. On July 1, the full range will be $24.26/hour to $30.45/hour.
