Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist

St Bernards Medical Center is recruiting for a full time critical care clinical pharmacist for our 46 bed adult intensive care unit. This pharmacist will have the opportunity to work closely with intensivists, specialists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other disciplines to optimize medication therapy for our critical care patients. Our pharmacists utilize clinical surveillance software to assist with pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, parenteral nutrition management, antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation monitoring, opioid stewardship, IV to PO, and adverse event reporting.

Other aspects of the position include precepting pharmacy students and residents, medication use evaluations, protocol management, maintaining effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperation with other services to accomplish the facility's mission and goals.

Requirements – Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with at least a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPH) degree required. Experience in critical care or a PGY2 preferred.

CLINICAL PHARMACISTJOB REQUIREMENTSEducationGraduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with at least a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPH) degree required. Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Arkansas, such licensure granted by the State Board of Pharmacy after passing the required examinations or by reciprocity based in passing such examinations in another state.ExperienceA hospital pharmacy residency and/or previous experience in hospital pharmacy is essential.PhysicalNormal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Operates computer, typewriter, and calculator. Finger dexterity. Eye-hand coordination. Frequent sitting, standing and walking. May lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Some exposure to chemical hazards when making chemotherapy.This is a safety sensitive position. Supervises and checks work of supportive personnel. Must be knowledgeable of standard pharmaceutical techniques and procedures, laws governing the practice of pharmacy, drug incompatibilities and interactions, pharmacology and toxicology. Job duties include but are not limited to: review of medication orders, clinical consultation, staff education, patient counseling, continuous quality improvement initiatives, pharmacist-managed dosing programs and pharmacy related research. The staff pharmacist may serve on various hospital committees. He/she provides direction, oversight, and coordination of pharmacy students and residents.
