Supervisory Recreation Specialist, GS-0188-12

This position is located in DHS/U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Borinquen, Personnel Support Department, MWR, Aguadilla, PR.

There is a 2.63% (of basic pay) Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) authorized for this position location. Please see Nonforeign Area Cost-of-Living Allowances for more information. With PCS entitlement comes the eligibility for enrollment into the DoDEA School.

The position is located at Base Detachment Borinquen which provides a wide range of facilities for use by active duty personnel and their dependents. The purpose of the position is to plan, organize and administer Morale, Well-being and Recreation (MWR) activities and programs that promote the physical, creative, and social development of its participants.

Being a Coast Guard (CG) civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignment include:

• Providing ongoing supervision to staff including GS and NAF employees.
• Conducting meetings with activity managers to make assignments and to review and discuss operations, special projects, long and short-range plans, and other management considerations.
• Developing, coordinating, and managing extensive MWR activity programs to identify task and functions appropriate for volunteers.
• Serving as the technical expert and operations manager of the MWR Program formulating innovative and creative changes necessary for the facilities/programs.
• Developing annual Appropriated and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) budgets and conducting command level budget briefs, adjusting actual expenditures as necessary throughout the year.
