Job Description

BAE Systems is offering an exciting opportunity to support an important and dynamic Department of Justice customer as a Senior Network/Systems Engineer supporting a highly capable and diverse team driving technical innovation. Our customers' enterprise system is composed of hybrid cloud-based and on-premise equipment and spans across locations in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States. Due to the varying locations, the infrastructure regularly needs upgrades to ensure that the system is up to date. The IT field is a rapidly changing world and therefore, it is important to anticipate and identify emerging trends in technology and how it can affect current and future of cloud-based infrastructure.

The successful candidate will perform yearly reviews of current system network architecture and be able to adapt to rapid changes in networking technology specifically hardware equipment and proprietary software operating systems running these devices. Networking equipment includes routers, switches, and TACLANE network encryptors. Candidates should be able handle and adapt from unexpected surge in the amount of simultaneous files being transferred on both Unclassified, Secret and Cross Domain systems. He/she will implement scalable networks that are able to withstand these surges in data. They'll also implement fault tolerant features within the infrastructure to alleviate any unforeseen disruption in power, network, and compromises. The candidate will present recommendations on any major changes to the network infrastructure such as new data paths, storage device upgrades and data migration to the PM and/or Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) regarding efficiency, redundancy, throughput, and maximum concurrent executions.

The candidate will perform needed upgrades to ensure long term viability and availability of the networks. This includes creating additional virtual servers, desktop computers and other peripherals; ensure that updates to the physical and virtual servers are downloaded and installed as soon as an updated software is released and then ported to COIU's classified development network; be responsible for ensuring that other networks used for Research and Development (R&D), test environment and any Pre-Production environment (Pre-Prod) are up to date with security patches, Operating Systems (OS) updates are up to date and are maintained properly along with other necessary network services; and will be responsible for tracking all versions of these developed front-end and back-end tools and publishing it on a SharePoint repository.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

*The candidate must have an Active TS Security clearance and willing to undergo a Counter Intelligence Polygraph after onboarding.*

The Senior Computer/Systems Engineer(s) shall possess a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the following areas:

  • Install, configure, and maintain internal networks, file servers, email servers, application server, print servers, workstations, and storage devices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network problems
  • Administer and configure Cisco or Juniper routers and switches
  • Administer system security and perform security checks
  • Monitor and verify availability of existing systems
  • Assist in evaluating and maintaining present and future hardware and software needs
  • Stay current with upcoming technologies in computers and networking protocols
  • Administer and configure with Windows, Unix/Linux, and Macintosh operating systems
  • Administer and configure data center infrastructure
  • Administer and configure network storage devices
  • Cloud computing solutions such as AWS or Azure, including volume and indexed storage, compute instances, and cloud networking concepts
  • Virtualization technologies such as Xen or VMware
  • Administer and configure ForcePoint and cloud-based cross domain systems
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of a broad range of computing technologies and providing innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand functional and technical specifications for new products
  • Work well under pressure, can meet tight deadlines and is committed to work as and when required to complete projects
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Information Systems, or any related discipline.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified Developer
  • AWS Certified DevOps Developer
  • Shell scripting (sh, ksh, bash)
  • Python, Ruby, or other high level language experience.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $215270

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
