Schedule: 10 Month Position for the Early Learning academic year

Days & Hours: Total of 6 hours a week on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings plus professional development and family engagement event hours

Salary Range: $ $29.59 per hour

Date available: August 31, 2024

Job Summary

Create a warm, welcoming, and engaging learning environment for students ages 20-48 months and their caregivers in a separating ECFE class and a Westwood Hills Nature Center class.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure instruction aligns with the St. Louis Park Public Schools vision, mission, and core values
  • Design and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate lesson plans and learning experiences that empower each learner to live their individual brilliance
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, develop, and implement engaging learning opportunities that align with the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress
  • Model responsive and positive child/caregiver interactions
  • Serve as a resource to parents on issues related to child development
  • Evaluate and assess academic and social-emotional growth
  • Build an authentic and trusting relationship with parents and caregivers to ensure a strong connection between home, school, and the community
  • Communicate student progress with parents and caregivers
  • Provide clear instructional leadership to support staff and volunteers working in the classroom
  • Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors
  • Participate in ongoing individual and team professional development opportunities
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers by means of newsletters, Seesaw posts, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understand child developmental theories, stages, and milestones to meet a wide range of learning styles and abilities
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with parents, colleagues, and community members from diverse backgrounds
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, dedication, and a sincere commitment to student achievement
  • Demonstrate proficiency in age appropriate developmental milestones including cognitive, language, motor skill, and social emotional skills
  • Apply early childhood development teaching principles, practices, techniques, and approaches to instruction
  • Integrate current trends, theories, and technologies pertaining to learning and instruction
  • Actively engage with small children (lifting, kneeling, bending, etc.)
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
Education and/or Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related educational field preferred
  • At least one year of related experience preferred
