Job Description

The inflammation biology group at Gilead is seeking a talented and highly motivated research scientist to join the group and pursue cutting-edge discovery and translational research in immunology and autoimmune diseases. The candidate will perform bench-top research to understand the disease pathogenesis and use both in vitro and in vivo system to validate therapeutic hypothesis. The successful candidate is expected to lead discovery of novel therapeutic agents in inflammatory diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and inflammatory dermatosis.

Key Responsibilities
Drive discovery and translational research aimed at identifying and advancing novel therapeutics for inflammatory diseases
Independently design, conduct, analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to support target validation
Proactively evaluate new technologies and generate scientific hypothesis to enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally with colleagues in the inflammation biology, protein engineering, chemistry, biomarker, bioinformatics, and clinical groups
Presents research findings and recommendations to senior staff, prepare research reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and contribute to the preparation of INDs, and patent filings

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Required:
PhD degree in Immunology with postdoctoral research experience
Experience and knowledge in immunology, adaptive immunity, T cell immunity, immune tolerance and/or autoimmune disease pathogenesis to design and perform high quality functional assays to target validation and/or therapeutic candidate optimization
Demonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by first authored publications in top tier immunology journals
Proficiency in immunological techniques and hands on experience with animal models is highly desired.

The salary range for this position is: $143, $185, Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
