GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs OT evaluation and uses treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of patients.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs patient assessment, treatment, discharge planning and collaboration with other health care providers.
  • Documents patient care and billing information timely and in accordance with department standards.
  • Communicates with co-workers, and other professionals, including physicians and nurses as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Functions as a team member in care of patients and in mentoring with other staff.
  • Delegates aspects of patient care to support staff per OT/OTA MI Licensure Administrative Rules providing necessary communication and supervision.
  • Maintains clinical productivity standards.
  • Maintains technical clinical expertise through ongoing clinical education.
  • Participates in in-services, staff meetings, quality activities and aspects of program development.
  • Maintains awareness of patient safety issues within the clinic and in the use of equipment. Assists in the maintenance of patient care equipment as needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality according to Henry Ford Health HIPAA policies.
  • Maintains adherence to all applicable Federal/State law/regulations, AOTA standards of practice, MI Licensure requirements, the Henry Ford Health Integrity/ Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, as well as all other Henry Ford Health policies and procedures.
  • If requested, represents Henry Ford Health at community and professional functions.
  • Participates in student education programs
  • May have other duties assigned as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Occupational Therapy bachelor degree acquired from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) accredited program. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
  • Current State of Michigan licensure
  • Current CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Macomb Clinton Twp/Warren: Successful completion of FIM certification exam with a score of at least 80% within 90 days of hire and then annually thereafter in accordance with the department's annual certification schedule (this may mean successful passage twice during their first employment year
