Lecturer, Mechanical Engineering
JOB DETAILS:

The Engineering and Technology Department invites applications for a Lecturer in engineering to prepare career-ready engineers and engineering technologists through hands-on learning experiences. The Engineering and Technology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout offers six undergraduate programs, including Computer & Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (B.S. and M.S.), Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Packaging. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in at least two of the areas listed in the Responsibilities section below. This is a full-time position with intent to renew. The anticipated start date is August 19, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

Each of the following qualifications is required of all candidates:

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Ability to teach in a combined lecture and lab environment.
Fluency in oral and written English communication.
Interest in advancing student learning in the area of engineering.
Highly Desired

Preferred qualifications for this position are:

One or more years of industry experience in mechanical engineering or related field and/or one or more years of teaching experience.
Commitment to establishing a climate (work environment) that embraces inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of the candidate include:

Engineering Capstone
Assign homework, hold office hours, administer exams, and organize material in the Canvas learning management system.
Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff.
Serve on committees and provide other service functions as assigned.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The R.F. Cervenka School of Engineering is comprised of the Engineering and Technology (E&T) Department which is one of eight departments in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management (CSTEMM). The department has approximately 40 full-time faculty and staff. The department provides courses for its well-established and accredited undergraduate programs in Computer & Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (B.S. and M.S.), Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Packaging, plus other programs throughout the University.
