Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry at East Tennessee State University seeks to fill one Lecturer position to begin in August 2024.

This position is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenurable, renewable appointment with benefits and opportunity for promotion to Senior Lecturer and Master Lecturer. Initial Lecturer appointments may be granted for up to three years with an annual performance review conducted by the Department Chair. Appointments may be renewed for further terms of up to three years following any satisfactory performance review.

The primary responsibility of lecturers is excellence in teaching lower-division courses, in particular Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Ability to teach Quantitative Analysis or upper-division courses is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
Mastery of concepts and applications of General and Organic Chemistry, associated laboratory techniques, and laboratory safety.
Mastery of Quantitative Analysis and higher-level subjects.

Skills:
Excellent skills in teaching, oral and verbal communication, interpersonal relations, and laboratory techniques.

Abilities:
Must be able to engage a diverse cohort of students in a large lecture setting and manage them in a teaching laboratory.
Required Qualifications
Master's (or higher) in Chemistry from accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry.

Teaching experience at an undergraduate institution.

Ability to teach 3000/4000 level classes in Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and/or Physical Chemistry (for future assignments, or additional assignments with supplementary salary).
Salary $32,000
