Summary
- The Prospective Payment System Coordinator coordinates the process of providing accurate and timely data to the appropriate entities involved in the Prospective Payment System for Medicare patients. The PPS Coordinator oversees all aspects of data collection on the IRF PAI, ensures the presence of supporting documentation and provides staff education to ensure compliance with CMS guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance in educating rehab staff involving updates on regulatory requirements for CARF chart documentation.
- Assists in the preparation for all regulatory surveys and compliance surveys and audits. Assist in coordinating all patient information to be submitted to CMS for Medicare reimbursement and exports required documentation in a timely manner.
- Responsible for assisting in monitoring patient charts for correct documentation.
- Assist in compiling and data for statistical analysis and performance improvement as necessary. Has good understanding of functional independence measurement (FIM) tool.
- Assist in participating in Rehab Business Leadership Meetings and Performance Improvement Team and Program team meetings for presentation of data analysis.
- Reviews and audits medical records for medical necessity for admission and justification of continued stay.
- Assists in the admission screening process as needed. Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency check-list.
- Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
Education
Associate's degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Credentials
- Valid Florida RN license in the state of Florida required. CRRN preferred. FIM certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment. Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
- Incumbents performing direct patient care must have American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
