Position Summary

The position is for a full-time Fall internship (approx. 40 hours per week). The position will report directly to the Technical Accounting Manager and will work closely with all Accounting Managers and accountants and will primarily be responsible for assisting with the preparation of regulatory financial statements and various projects supporting the audited financial statements.

Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial statements for external lenders and monthly/quarterly regulatory reporting for regulated subsidiaries to external third parties.
  • Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements including subsidiary audited financial statements and related U.S. GAAP checklists.
  • Assist with performing accounting research under U.S. GAAP and researching presentation and disclosure examples.
  • Assist with preparing technical accounting memorandum for transactions in the ordinary course of business related to financial reporting.
  • Proactive identification of financial reporting issues and improvement of existing processes.
  • Complete special projects for management and other financial functions within the department as required.
  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Currently a candidate for a bachelor's degree in business administration with an accounting focus.
  • Highly analytical and detail oriented.
  • Develop independence, communications and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments throughout the finance organization and business.
