The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) is directly responsible to the Nurse Practitioner Supervisor of the Occupational Health service for providing care within her/his scope of practice and is accountable for practice/clinical work and overall duty execution.

The Occupational Health/Patient Education LPN/LVN serves in a generalist role to support employees in an immunization clinic and independently manages the annual flu vaccination program.

Serves as the Assistant Program coordinator for the Annual Seasonal Influenza Campaign for Employees and Veterans, providing patient/staff education, following up with Employees who may have had their influenza vaccine in other pharmacies, and ensuring documentation in Employee records (Veterans when an employee that is also a Veteran requests).

Responsible for assisting in overseeing the intermittent nurses that participate in the seasonal Influenza Clinic to affect a successful program.

Assists with organizing vaccination clinics throughout the year for several vaccinations available such as Influenza, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis A & B, and Pneumonia (Pneumovax).

Collaborates with EOH staff to track and trend outbreaks or illnesses in the workplace and assist in implementing disease prevention measures.

This includes, but is not limited to, a robust hand and respiratory hygiene campaign, TB education, and facility wide education on local area health concerns as they arise from the Public Health office.


Provides medication administration of:

immunizations (Influenza, Hepatitis A and B, Varicella, MMR, Tdap, and Pneumovax), aspirin for chest pain, glucagon for hypoglycemia, Epi-pen for anaphylactic shock, Benadryl for non-anaphylactic allergic reactions, and 02 for acute shortness of breath per standing/protocol orders.

Provides education, develops educational tools, and facilitates training within the area of assignment, representing occupational health/patient education requirements.

Responsible for any patient, staff education/training, documentation, and assistance with workload capture that is basic for the completion of a visit and/or training.

Identifies subtle changes in patient condition, both physical and emotional.

Completes required patient care documentation and records significant observations and actions using the nursing process (assessment/data collection/observation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation).

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7AM - 4:30PM

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases


When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave:


After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


Child Care Subsidy:


After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.
