Job Description

The Department of Educator Preparation in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a non-tenure track, Lecturer II / Teaching Assistant Professor position in elementary education in the Integrated Elementary Teacher Preparation Program to begin August 1, 2024. We seek a dynamic, student-centered, practice-based faculty member with strong leadership skills to serve on our team. This position provides the following leadership opportunities: (a) coordinating field-based experiences for elementary teacher education students in practicum, (b) providing leadership and daily support for the successful operation of the teacher preparation program, and (c) providing leadership for interns working at external school sites. As a member of the core faculty team, this position participates in the Integrated Elementary Teacher Preparation Program, department, college, and university service, teaches two courses per semester plus two practicum sections and provides practicum supervision. Depending on the successful candidate's strengths and interests, additional responsibilities may include providing academic advising.

Required Qualifications

Lecturer II - Master's degree by August 2024 in elementary education from an accredited program or entered the education field prior to 2013.

Teaching Assistant Professor - PhD by August 2024 in elementary education from an accredited program or entered the education field prior to 2013.

The successful candidate must have three to five years of K-8 elementary education teaching experience within the last five years and hold a current Nevada teaching license in elementary education or be license-eligible in the State of Nevada.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have teaching experience and a strong commitment to the development of elementary educators in training. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound, learner-centered, graduate-level teaching skills. Collegiality is valued and expected. A campus presence during practicum hours is expected. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to social justice, multicultural sensitivity, and advocacy for marginalized populations.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
