Founded as a faith-based hospital in 1923 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center is a 389-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Long Beach, California. Responsibilities
The HIV/STD Disease Intervention Specialist will report to the CARE Center Clinical Services Manager and work closely with the City of Long Beach HIV/STD Surveillance Program. This position will conduct HIV/STD disease investigations and provide partner services for individuals newly infected with chlamydia gonorrhea syphilis and HIV. This position will be based in the CARE Medical Clinic and will support CARE Center clinicians and St. Mary Emergency Department clinicians. This position will team with CARE HIV-STD testing Biomedical Prevention and Linkage/Retention staff.
Qualifications
Minimum
- • High school diploma GED or equivalent.
- • Strong understanding of HIV/STD prevention issues
- • Two years of experience providing community health education services (academic degrees in Public Health Health Sciences or a closely related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis).
- • Valid motor vehicle operator license
- • Ability to work independently and as part of a team be flexible and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and populations including the LGBTQ community.
Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Health Sciences or a closely related field
• Bilingual skills (Spanish)
Pay Range
$ $28.36 /hour
