Casual position working 16 hours in a 6 week schedule. Days of work are Sunday-Saturday, scheduled shifts are days and evenings. Hours of work are 7:00am - 3:30pm and 3:00pm - 11:30pm, partial shirfts will be an option as needed. Weekend and Holiday work are variable.
Unit Clerk: Under the supervision of the Lead Unit Supervisor, Unit Supervisor, Clinical Manager, or Registered Nurse, assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the Unit by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.
CNA:Provides nursing related tasks and functions under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Assists patients with activities of daily living. Provides a safe, sanitary, orderly, and attractive environment for patients, hospital employees, and visitors.
Responsibilities- Performs clerical and patient care duties related to the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Orders supplies and places items in their proper storage area.
- Pages appropriate staff via current communication system.
- Completes required annual competencies.
- Communicates with other departments, team members and healthcare entities to coordinate appointments and transportation.
- Receives visitors and answers the telephone.
- Assists with the collection of data for reports and records information using computer systems and software that are relevant for the job.
- Assembles patient information packets.
- Provides Activities of Daily Living for patients of all ages and developmental levels, including but not limited to bathing, oral hygiene, back care, hair care, dressing, toileting and ambulation.
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and intake-output measurements.
- Answers patient call lights, anticipates patient needs and participates in hourly rounding as assigned.
- Assists in post-mortem care.
- Transports patients to and from various departments.
- Provides clean patient environment, unit and equipment and ensures that supplies are restocked at the end of each shift.
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Attends in-service education programs, as assigned, to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
- Collects and transports specimens to appropriate departments.
- Provides activities for Swingbed patients and completes required documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Work requires a level of knowledge acquired by graduation from high school in order to follow, must be certified as a Nurse Aide or have completed course work in a nursing or vocational program to satisfy requirements for placement on the ND Department of Health Nurse Assistant Registry. Must be able to follow oral or written orders. Position requires completion of BLS CPR. Position is required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training in the appropriate timeframe according to department orientation checklist
Previous work experience as a Unit Clerk and medical terminology is preferred. Preference for a minimum of six months experience as a nurse aide in an acute care health facility or for a completion of course in Fundamentals of Nursing. Time to reach competency on the job here is 2-4 weeks.
