Costume Shop Manager

The Costume Shop Manager is responsible for the daily operation, safety, organization, and management of the School of Theatre Arts and Dance (STAD) costume shop.The Costume Shop Manager, with the guidance of the Faculty Costume Designer, is responsible for the supervision and safety of student and professional costume shop staff, initiating student employee paperwork, student time card entry approval, and supervision and termination of student employees.The Costume Shop Manager is responsible for keeping the costume shop supplied with all appropriate materials and goods and maintaining general organization of the work and storage spaces.The Costume Shop Manager assists the Faculty Costume Designer in training all students with particular emphasis upon the students pursuing careers in the field of costumes upon graduation.In the event that there are no necessary costume needs for the summer season, the costume shop manager will use the summer months for equipment maintenance and deep organization of costume stock.Along with the Faculty Costume Designer, develop and implement training procedures in basic costume construction skills for all work-study, practicum, and lab students.Train and support wardrobe crew on cleaning and maintenance of costumes during the run of the production; attend production meetings and dress rehearsals as requested by Costume Designer.MFA in Costume Design or related field.
